CANON, MATSUSHITA and Hitachi are all set to conclude an alliance over flat panel displays which would leave Taiwanese and Korean competitors in the shade.
Nikkei.net reports that the three are just about to strike an alliance in which Canon would take a quarter of the shares of Hitachi Displays.
The troika will work to both design and make LCD and OEL panels, the wire said here (sub needed), with a deal expected as early as next week.
However, Hitachi moved to deny the reports. In a brief press statement, the firm said: "No decision as reported has been made." But then if it's happening next week.... µ
... and where's TOSH?

This alliance can't be about LCDs
And, just by some odd coincidence, their prices will end up being the same.
