Your fingers are safer from bandits now

You don't need a whether vein to know which way the wind's blowing

FINGER PRINT systems as security devices are all well and good, but what if some ruthless crook chops both your index fingers off to get into your bank vault or notebook PC?

We reported a while back that Hitachi boffins believe your ID is better taken in vein.

Now Hitachi has flogged its "vascular authentication system" to the New York office of the Shinkin Central Bank.

In Japan, said Hitachi, the vein method which scans your individual finger is widely used in Japan. It expects others to follow where Shinkin has led. µ
