ANTI-SOCIAL NETWORKING outfit Facebook has been slammed for encouraging online hate groups after it seemed to be dragging its feet in shutting them down.

Despite complaints, and a posting on Slashdot, Facebook took ages to close down the "f*ck Islam" group. However, similar groups including the "f*ck Israel and Jews" group, the "I hate Iraqis" group and the "f*ck Old People" are still there.

Facebook's f*ck Islam Group was started in July and inspired a group called "if “f**k Islam” is not shut down..we r quitting facebook."

According to the Newscloud news bogging site, the reason might be financial. Such a site creates a stink and thousands of outraged people pop to the site to become incandescent with rage. Facebook makes cash on the advertisements.

Facebook's own Terms of Use which state that users must not: “upload, post, transmit, share, store or otherwise make available any content that we deem to be harmful, threatening, unlawful, defamatory, infringing, abusive, inflammatory, harassing, vulgar, obscene, fraudulent, invasive of privacy or publicity rights, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable” seems to be a problem of the will to enforce. µ
