Nvidia unveils G92 GTS

Website snafu
Tuesday, 4 December 2007, 15:14

NVIDIA HAS officially revealed the spec of G92 8800 GTS a full week before launch.

In what appears to be a website boo-boo, the clocks and specs of the new card were posted to the GeForce 8 product page, here.

However, the specs now appear to have been taken down - but not before eagle-eyed reporters snagged them.

The spec list confirms what we knew by now - a default core and memory clock of 650/1000MHz, a 256-bit bus and an Ultra-busing shader clock of 1625MHz, the fastest in the Geforce 8 range.

Stay tuned for the full details from the usual round of wibblers on Monday. µ

where?

it's nowhere to be seen on that page... now either nvidia has taken it off for some reason unknown to the mankind or the author has gone bonkers...

These are the full specs:

I've just recieved 7 samples from XFX.

Are you sure nVidia delayed the relase date? I've this cards on stock since 3 December and ready to sell, I'm from Spain... You sure it's December 11? I really have 7 (well 2 less I selled 2 since monday) units.

The diferences between 8800GT and 8800GTS are not only on clock speeds (600/1800 vs 650/1940), the really interesting diference is on number of shaders, 8800GTS-512MB have 128 and 8800GT have only 112, so if you own an overclocked 8800GT you'll never have the performance of the 8800GTS, unless you own a 8800GT Super-Superclocked (SSC) 700/2000 from EVGA that have a performance pretty near to 8800GTS(G92) but not much diferences on price and noisier (1 slot vs 2 slots), so I prefeer 8800GTS-512, and I have a feeling that with a little OC it'll go to 700/2000 and perhaps a little more, and then no 8800GT can beat that.

In a few words the 8800GTS-512(G92) is amazingly good!!! For a half of the price of a 8800GTX you'll have better performance, less cooling problems and less hot in your room (less power hungry).

I'll take some picts by tomorrow, but I cannot open the boxes that are for my customers.

Regards
Joaquim
