Big computer show could be affected

THE ORGANISERS OF the important Computex show, held in early June in Taiwan said that so far the dates of the show are staying the same.

Rumours in the industry had suggested that Computex might be postponed because of the current scare about the SARS virus.

A representative for Computex said: "At the present moment there is still no news on the change of dates on the show".

In fact, he said, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has removed Taiwan from the list of areas hit hardest by the the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS).

That may not be enough to persuade foreign buyers, however, with many IT companies in the Europe and the US advising against flights to the Far East.

The WHO update on Taiwan is here. µ
