FBI accused of ignoring US cyber crime abroad

Taiwan complains
Wed Nov 29 2006, 09:40
TAIWANESE COPPERS are complaining that they cannot get the FBI interested in fighting cyber crime.

According to Associated Press, Lee Hsiang-chen, director of the High-tech Criminal centre of the National Police Agency, said he had been requesting help from the FBI in key cases but the agency can't be bothered returning his calls.

Hsiang-chen said that since there were no FBI agents in Taiwan, every time there was a cyber crime involving the US, he had to ring the agency in Japan.

However the FBI never gets back to the Taiwanese cops leaving them "feeling very depressed".

The comments were made on a video conference call which featured Raul Roldan, acting deputy assistant director of the FBI's cyber crime division. Roldan said that he would investigate why the Taiwanese were being ignored.
