An unjust peace is better than a just war - Marcus Tullius Cicero
INSPECTOR Knacker of the Athens yard claims a 58 year-old Greek maths expert sold stolen Dassault software on the world wide wibble.
Athen's prosecutors have not named the man, but said that the software was worth US$361 million.
They also do not seem to have got around to charging him or arresting him either as they want Greek equivalent of the Crown Prosecution Service to have a look at the file first, to see if the charges can stick.
It is claimed that the maths man hacked into computers and stole software used in the arms, automobile and aeronautical industries.
These were sold for $1,000 to 250 buyers in several countries over the past six years. It seems that they got their software very cheaply.
The mathematician has form, the coppers claim. He has been arrested twice on similar charges but the case has not yet come to court.
Since this is Athens, he will probably get off with being forced to drink hemlock, for a first offence.
More here. ยต
Being greek i can assure you people that drinking hemlock is reserved as punishment for serious crimes only like grand theft chicken or goat embezzlement.
Such petty crimes as cyber-treason, stealing European funding or high ranking telecommunications company officials spying on the priminister and reporting to phone numbers registered to Maryland USA and getting away with it ARE NOT crimes but rather standard government and judicial policy.
Is this the same country that arrested a bunch of plane spotters because they were photographing their air-fleet that was so old and decrepit that it could barely fly.
He thought anyone could trojan the Oracle of Delphi?
