Chipkill, ECC, and so forth

TAIWANESE MANUFACTURER Iwill said it has released the DK88, a high memory capacity workstation and server board.

The board, which uses AMD Opterons, will support up to 64GB of memory, the company said.

There's room to accommodate 16 DDR memory DIMMs, each of which can be up to 4GB. The board supports registered memory with both ECC and chip kill functions.

Iwill is using digital voltage regulator modules rather than aluminium electrolytic capacitors, it said. That gives more room to add memory banks.

It also avoids any problems the caps might have if they decide to leak.

Other features of the board include PCI Express X16, X8 and PCI-X 133 slots, as well as dual Broadcom Gigabit, and support for S-ATA II with RAID 0, 1, 0+1. ยต
