Google desktop for Mac tips up

Och aye, MacGoogle

GOOGLE HAS RELEASED its Google Desktop utility for Mac OS X users.

It requires Mac OS X 10.4 and above, but this is the first time that Google has released a fully-functional app for the PCs designed by Fruitzilla in California and manufactured by happy Taiwanese people.

The utility is easily reachable by a simple keyboard shortcut (press command and command), and it brings full integration with Google.com, indexing Gmail and web-history, finds content in past file revisions and deleted items, but also has some new features. The app will handle multiple users and is able to support FileVault.

The main is to speed you up, so when you start typing a phrase in search box of Google Desktop, all indexed data will start to appear, enabling you to easily navigate through your files, applications or the internet search itself.

As is the case with PC version, Google Desktop Search is identical to the one you can find on the homepage - and has full support for Fireferret, Camino and Safari.

Neat part about the whole Mac OS experience is installing new programs, and Google Desktop will be no different - Google Updater is a native part of the app, enabling fast installation of Google's own applications, like Google Earth, Notifier, Picasa and so on. ยต
