Abit says no to Nforce 3 250

ACON4 Focusing on Nvidia K8 PCI-E chipset
Thursday, 10 June 2004, 06:52
* CORRECTION Abit said that it is committed to using the Nforce 3 250, despite what the article says below. The misunderstanding appears to have arisen because people in the factory do not know Abit's roadmap, the head office in Taiwan said today. Apologies to Abit and to readers. 11 June 2004. Ed.

WE RECENTLY visited Abit's Rolly factory in China and met some of the talkative people willing to answer some questions.

We saw production of the Abit K8T800PRO chipset based board for socket 754 Athlons and naturally asked what is happening with Nvidia's competing chipset.

Abit told us that it won't make a Nforce 3 250 based motherboard and this now means that it's now skipped two Nvidia chipsets in a row. Abit, like many other manufacturers, decided not to make Nforce 3 150 motherboards.

There appear to be questions about stability.

Nvidia is heavyily marketing its firewall features, and I've tested an Epox Nforce 3 250 myself and found it very stable, but perhaps Abit knows things that I don't. ยต
