Anyway AMD will release four chipsets. The first one is the RS690M which sounds like a mobile part to me. After checking we confirmed that the first three chipsets are mobile ones. ATI was always very good with chipset power consumption. RD580 doesn't need a lot of power. RS690MC is the basic chipset without TSMD inside so it will support VGA out only but it will also end up cheaper.
The third one is the one mentioned by Chip here. Its codename is RS690 T and will have a sixteen bit side memory port to support the DDR2 memory. This memory will be used for a local frame buffer. This one might have a bit faster graphics.
The fourth variation is the RS690 desktop chipset that supports integrated graphics. I am sure OEM will desktops will love this one. Fifth child is the RD690 chipset supports Crossfire and of course it works as a discrete chipset. I am not sure is this one faster than RD580 but it has to be I guess. Moray desktop reference board for RS690 mobile part supports only DDR 2 667 and not faster but I am sure that the RD690 will support the faster memory speeds as well. The last one is RX 690 which is the same as RS690 but it doesn't have the integrated graphics. You can check the details here or fly to Chile and buy these guys a nice bottle of Chilean Vine.
The chipset needs the SB 600 south bridge to work. µ
