Cat has domain name clawed back by Morgan Stanley

If from Outer Space she displayed bad faith

A CAT which registered the domain name mymorganstanleyplatinum.com under the name Meow has lost her right to use the name.

Meow, representing herself as Baroness Penelope Cat, lost the right to the domain name after ICANN arbitrators ruled cats cannot speak, or read or write.

The arbitrator, according to a Wall Street Journal law blog, said that a common cat couldn't own the domain name, unless it was a cat from outer space, in which case Meow should have said so.

The arbitrator said that if Meow was a cat from outer space, then it could have something to hide, and so bad faith might be involved.

The arbitrator ruled Morgan Stanley should get the domain back. Meow's reaction is not known. But if she is indeed from outer space, Morgan Stanley had better watch itself.

Here's the Cat decision.
