GINGER GROUP the National Institute on Media and the Family said that graphics violence against women in the most popular games are on the increase.

The group singled out Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, which it said gave players rewards for having sex with, and kicking prostitutes to death.

The game is only intended for 17 year olds and above, but in reality many younger people are playing it, the group said.

The group says it is a non-profit organisation unaffiliated with any religious or political grouping and supports the US Bill of Rights and the freedoms of the First Amendment. Its web site is here.

It produces so called "Kidstore" ratings for different video games. µ
