Beatles firm settles royalties wrangle with EMI

Online gold rush begins

APPLE CORPS, the Beatles company said it has come to an agreement with EMI in its royalties wrangle with the record company.

Neither side would cough up any details but both said they'd reached an accord "last month".

Apple had thrown a law-suit in EMI's direction, claiming some £30 million in unpaid royalties. One assumes EMI agreed to fork out some readies.

The agreement paves the way for Beatles tunes to tip up legally online.

It remains to be seen where this will happen. The other Apple would love to have the tunes on its Itunes service. EMI wants them too. We'll have them on the INQ should the remnants of the fab four be looking for a third way. µ
