New media reinforcements battle Taleban

Government propaganda proposals
Friday, 10 October 2008, 12:50

AS TALEBAN propaganda continues to grow, the UK government is forced to come up with new counteractions - this time the plan is to bring on the mobile phones.

This latest government initiative involves new forms of media such as mobile phones and the internet being used to turnaround the prevailing Taleban message.

Although this is a government plan, non-governmental organisations will provide the technology required which will be distributed to ordinary Afghans to produce their own video diaries.

These films will hopefully combat the anti-Western films already in circulation in Afghanistan, with the aim of producing around 100 short film clips which can be used at a film festival next summer.

Officials at Whitehall say that the main aim is to cut out the Taleban monopoly on propaganda by introducing new media to the fight. ยต

Yeah, I remember the last one

I recall the Home Office scheme several weeks ago to propagandise on nu meeja and web 2.0 sites. Presumably burying al-Qaeda under a flood of LOL-Osamas saying "AL-GAYEDA". Blog rant here: http://tinyurl.com/3wevky

One mans propaganda,...

I was in the Army. Almost everything people over here tell me about what is happening in Afghanistan is a lie. Do you really think the stories you hear on the news are true?

The war is over except for the spin. We lost just like the Russians. The only thing left to do is DECLARE VICTORY and come home. Not that the seventh poorest country in the world had all that much worth taking anyway.

Wait what?

The Arabs in the middle east shouldn't be anti-western why? We do enough to the middle east to spawn enough hate for these people to use their bodies as walking bombs. Instead of coming up with stupid anti-propaganda propaganda, we should instead focus on what we're doing to anger them in the first place. It all starts with the total support of Israel while we bomb the hell out of the Arab countries. In the USA we send 30 billion dollars a year to Israel, a country with the populous roughly the size of New York City. That's not even counting the free weapons and other goodies they get. Why is there no Nuclear oversight in Israel? Why don't we invade them because they won't allow weapons inspectors? It's all a bunch of BS, people need to wake up to the Apartheid being committed in Palestine while the US and UK governments pay for it. People need to watch some documentaries that haven't been censored by the west to see the horror the Palestinian people live through. All the while the Israelis live in relative comfort. Imagine how it must feel to have your children leave the house for school not knowing whether or not they'll be shot for bloodsport. It's awful but I don't blame the Jewish people just their and our so called leaders.

How come the Afghani's are double hard b*stards?

How come they can kick Russian ass, American Ass, British Ass, anyone's ass in fact?

How come a bunch of locals with a few guns running around in the countryside can make fools of the world's great military powers?

Oh yeah, that also happened in Vietnam, Ireland, India, Pakistan, Africa, etc etc. Doh.

It even happened in USA when they kicked out UK.

It happened in UK when they kicked out the Romans.

But how come the Afghani's are so hard? Is it the mafi heroin money that keeps them in weapons? Who is selling them guns?

Can someone ask that General dude who servered under Ronnie Reagan about it again?

Some say that war is not about winning, it's about the defence company director's getting richer and richer, and if a few youngsters die along the way then so be it.
