I haven't heard of this problem anywhere else.......maybe you can give it some publicity.
There is a very real problem with security update KB891711 for Windows 98 and Windows 98SE. This update is a few weeks old. I ran into it when my computer started downloading e-mails VERY slowly. I ran into it again today when one of my client's computer would crash every time they accessed the internet. The weird part about this update is that it installs an executable called (guess what) KB891711.EXE and starts it when the computer is booted. Stopping this program from running at startup fixed the problem in both cases.
Microsoft obviously dropped the ball on this one. Please get the word out.....or don't. I can use the business!

Eurocrats rebuff Microsoft's latest monoeuvrings
You are a typically damaged European wanker. Without big bad MS, your life would be heaven on earth right? No one demanded you or any of your EUers use this particular OS.
All the tools are freely available for you to build and use your own OS. I suggest you give up your "venal" opinion journal and start coding.
It's my guess you would not be able to handle the self critisism necessary to spend 20 minutes dubugging your own shit.
I suggest you take a good long sniff.
Sincerely,
David Johnson

Could Gaza really be the next India?
You may ask Paul Hales why the Israelis shot at the school's which he claims to have been closed. Could it have been because someone from the school had shot at the Israeli army first and they were only trying to stay alive ?? Did Mr Hales mention in his article that his schools happen to be a hot bed for Palestinian terrorist recruiters who send 11 year old kids to explode in civilian areas . Did he happen to mention that the Egypt , Jordan and Syria could have allowed the Palestinians to rebuild their homes after 1948 in their lands (after the Palestinians left Israel at the request of Egypt ,Jordan and Syria) but preferred to allow the Palestinians to rot in sub human standard living conditions. Did he also mention that the Israelis also offered to resettle the Palestinians many times in Gaza and the West Bank but that they refused also wishing to stay in their refuge camps as to show the world how Israel was mistreating them?? Did he also mention that in the Palestinian School curriculum which UNWRA pays for, has blatant hate and anti-Semitic texts??
Did he tell you that the Israelis are now giving back the Gaza Strip to the Palestinians as we are sick and tired of them and that we will not allow them into Israel anymore and that they will probably not succeed without work in Israel.
Don't bet on them becoming another India , probably another Bangladesh if you ask me. Some times twenty feet can separate two nations, India and Bangladesh , but the difference in the potential is like the Grand Canyon.
Good Luck and Good Ridden UNWRA, cause you are going to need it when there will be a Palestinian state and there won't be any Israelis around to blame for your failure to improve the situation of the Palestinians over the next fifty years like you did in the last fifty.
Best Regards

Ban Solitaire! says US senator
Paul,
In your 'Ban Soliatire' story, you introduce the senator as: US REPUBLICAN SENATOR Austin Allran...
Although he is a senator, a Republican, and from the US, he is not a US Senator (who would represent the state of NC in Washington, DC). As this indicates Senator Allran of Catawba County.
he is a NC State Senator, representing Catawba County at the NC State Capitol in Raleigh.

Ding dong Dell
Dear "Voice Crying in the Wilderness":
I don't know how best to identify the essayist to which I'm now responding; but maybe it will be clear enough if I just mention that I've just read a tale of misery about a long twilight struggle with Dell's frustrating, impossible-to-understand "customer non-service" system.
The crucial point which resonated with a powerful, gut reaction was physically manifest when the writer mentioned Dell's television commercials.
Like him (or her), I feel bad every time I see anything about Dell advertised. For me, it has become something like a Pavlovian, knee-jerk response--and the feeling is particularly sickening when the happy actors are rattling on about the helpful feedback from who-knows-who at Dell.
Really, I have to ask: How can I best express my thanks for the work that went into what can only be described as a public service announcement?
I don't know how I can possible imitate this writer's sterling example, but I'll definitely be thinking about it.
This message of thankful appreciation becomes at least a first step in the right direction.
Can you steer me towards others I can join in doing something more constructive than this e-message to you?
Sincerely
Ronald Davidson

NTL: pussy's in the well
Mike
While working for OCZ in the UK I find myself needing a faster broadband service just like the rest of us, with more drivers to download and trailers to watch per day etc etc J
Recently NTL quietly offered all customers an upgrade to a faster service for free all good, I signed up. Thing is what you don't know is they seem to have moved our login to a new server in preparation for the dreaded bandwidth meter.
I'm really unsure whether the British public at large are aware of what is actually happening in the UK. The government are driving the cost of BB down but all the BB companies are doing is reducing the bandwidth we can use down to a silly low limit and then will probably slap us with a per gig charge.
NTL will strictly impose a 1gig per day limit on 3mb and 2mb customers soon, I often reach this in 3 hrs just using VOIP to friends, listening to the radio and the odd driver download or movie trailer. If I use 2 gigs a day and NTL decide to charge £5 per gig there after I will be paying £150 for extra bandwidth on top of the £40 or so I pay now for the service and NTL are not the only ones doing this.
While speeds are increasing, they are being offset by how much bandwidth we get for our money.
Rip off Britain is a term that comes to mind Please let the masses know exactly what is going on here!
Thanks
