Dell 24-incher has problems

Outstanding Banding
Fri Apr 28 2006, 18:04
NUMEROUS readers tell us they have been waiting for a new Dell 24-inch widescreen LCD to tip up.

The replacement for the current 2405, the cleverly named 2407 has been delayed for quite a while and it appears there may have been some quality problems.

The 2407 was formally released in Japan first about a month and a half ago. Released, as in Dell put it on the web for you to order, but not released in terms of it shipping the LCD those folk ordered, it seems.

That didn't happen until a few days ago when Dell finally shipped the 2407 to customers in Japan, whereafter reviews and complaints began to spring up on the Interweb.

An image here purports to show the banding causing concern.

Dell said there were no manufacturing problems with the monitors, due for launch in Britain in May, and it is investigating the claims. µ
