Pre-paid mobile cards help terrorists

THE SIGNAPORE government is set to control the sale of pre-paid mobile phone cards because they can be used by terrorists to set off bombs.

The logic is that because pre-paid mobile phone cards are anonymous they can be exploited by terror groups such as Al Qaeda.

If a terrorist has a proper contract, then the phone company knows where he or she lives and can tell Inspector Knacker.

Singapore police have seen elements of the Singapore branch of Al Qaeda Jemaah Islamiyah using pre-paid cards extensively to avoid detection.

Sometimes they have even used them to rig improvised explosive devices, other times they call taxis -- you can never tell with pre-paid cards.
