I don't care what is written about me so long as it isn't true - Dorothy Parker
NINTENDO HAS ANNOUNCED that it sold 653,000 DS Lites over the week of November 18-24, setting a new record for the portable, for Nintendo, and for the entire industry. The number of units moved is record-breaking, exceeding the industry's previous record, also held by Nintendo with the Game Boy Advance's sales during America's Thanksgiving if 2005.
The Wii also performed admirably, selling 350,000 units, a number topped only by the console's launch week.
Wii/DS
The Wii could do even better if it wasn't for its continued shortage.
Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has admitted that the shortage of Wii units at retail is a missed opportunity for the company.
"At this point we are literally trying to catch up with demand," said Fils-Aime, in an interview with news.com. "There is no secret plan to store Wiis in a warehouse to spur demand".

PS3/PSP
Sony has also done quite well recently.
Sales of the Playstation 3 experienced a 245 percent jump in the week of November 18-24 compared to the previous week.
Most people put this down to Black Friday - but Sony state it's more in due to the recent PS3 price drop.
Good news for the PSP Slim too - GamesIndustry.biz repo rts that to date the handheld has topped 1 million sales of the refined PSP.
If you still struggle with the battery life of your PSP - fear not - Sony has announced an extended life battery kit.
The 2,200 mAh battery pack offers 20-percent more life on the older PSP units and a huge 80-percent increase for the slims.
Xbox 360
Microsoft is
being
sued by a San Diego gamer who claims that Halo 3 is a defective product that
causes his Xbox 360 to frequently crash.
Randy Nunez filed a lawsuit with the U.S. District Court in Southern California stating that the game "consistently causes the Xbox 360 to crash, freeze, or lock up while the game is being played."
The INQ had similar problems...
Microsoft Japan recently held a small press briefing detailing some of the new features bundled into the Xbox 360 Fall Dashboard Update.
Engadget was able to pinpoint a few relevant changes that are in store for next Tuesday's update. The most significant addition is the reorganization of the "games" blade (pictured above), which now features the "Game Library" (in place of " Xbox Live Arcade"), in addition to the old "Achievements" and "Played Games" sections.
The Xbox 360 backward compatibility team's just pumped out a batch of new updates, you can read the full list here.
Alternatively you could purchase some classics from Xbox Arcade instead - including the upcoming Sensible World of Soccer. ยต
wow the name is all wrong, it doesn't look lite.
I wonder what it does for battery life
...Nintendo are unable to supply sufficient Wii to meet demand. They'd keep everyone happy then, customers, shareholders, the CEO.
anybody else think the Wii shortages are deliberate so that the market isn't too saturated with Wii's too quickly??...it means two years after launch there is still high demand and because nobody can get one it is the still the 'in' thing to have...

Clever trick by Nintendo if i say so myself
What's with people still thinking the Wii is just a fad? Trust me, if it wasn't worth waiting for, people would have stopped a long time ago.

I don't own any consoles (PC gamer for life!), but it's blatantly obvious to me that, among consoles, the Wii is the only one offering the right entertainment, at the right price.

From a corporate standpoint, demand edging out supply is good, but money in the bank is better. Do you really think Nintendo is sitting around asking "How can we make less money? I know, lets burn a bunch of cash to produce warehouses full of product and then NOT sell it! It's brilliant!"

Wake up. Nintendo wants everyone in the world to have a Wii. Now, vendors like Walmart and BestBuy on the other hand might stockpile to drive up the retail demand, but Nintendo doesn't have any say in that.
"literally trying to catch up with demand" ... wow. As opposed to what? Only figuratively trying to do so?

I'm literally wondering how you can literally publish such a literally fatuous statement. Literally.
