Chaos in the Cave

On our way to the forum. Ooh err Missus
Wed Jan 15 2003, 09:23
WE HAVE THE Hermit's Cave forum here which is pleasantly easy to access. It's named after Hermit, who moderated the forum at the Other Plaice and here before his untimely death. And here's a summary of what's happened over there in the last seven days or so, courtesy of Basil.

QOTW: "I can't say I fancy glugging a tinny, only to be smacked in the chops with a bloody great lump of guava."- Skaffman.

Want to know what he's on about, come on in and join the fun. We don't (all) bite! [Yes you do, Ed.]

This week's stats
Timewasters: SKAFFMAN, BASIL, REDBARON, STENCH, PROMETHEA, FLASHMAN, TIGGER, JIRO, SPINOLA, MAGRIGGS, DSMITHINQ, ARRON, QUINGSHI, TAMEALIEN, BARONESS, TCB, SGF2, BROKENKEY, BO_NANZA, THERMIONIC FNGs

Foetus count
Six congrats to Mr & Mrs F and Mr & Mrs Mung on the new announcements!

Another landmark week in the cave, with the 2000th new thread since we moved into our own Beehive forum. Strangely, the thread actually started out on a vaguely snesible topic! All this talk of babies and the impending arrival of many cave-lets has meant we've added our very own creche to keep the talk of nappies, buggies and bodily functions away from kars, katz and guns...

There's been a surprising amount of technical wibble this week, on broken motherboards, broken hard drives, broken routers, broken cameras, broken code... You'd never guess that most of us are supposed to be technically competent!

On the sociable front, both the London and WM OOFGs have been organised, with only a week to sober up between the two, and a near attempt at holding one in Scotland when people realised it's cheaper to get up there than it is to get into London for the evening. Oh breaking news, the London OOFG location has changed again. And again. And again....

Other things that have amused us over the last week; the on-line cascaid form (careers advice) that seems to think that rather a lot of us would make a good "Fluorescent Gandhi", some technical discussion on the specification of the "etherkiller" device, a rare trip into culture, where several dwellers posted excerpts of their favourite poems and the fact that Flashy's joined a gym and bought some cords. In addition we've had the latest episode from the ongoing series "Tigger's travel woes", the hunt for Skaffman's perfect shredder continues and several more entries in the pet hate of the day lineup.

As always, the cave has been the place we all turn for advice, help and to blag equipment. Alex needs to find something to do in Caldicot - a difficult challenge it seems, various soon to be parents are soliciting children's names and Stench would like some snow. Of course, the other regulars all rose to the challenge admirably and provided many useless solutions to all of these and more.

So, that's a taster of last week's erudite discussion. It makes even less sense if you come on in, so what've you got to lose!

Hermit's Quotable Quotes
"When women have kids they become realll unreasonable. They become attached to them like they were hampsters or something! I mean if it was a good horse or a ferret I could understand" µ

Authorities in several countries raided Megaupload recently, shut down all of its services, seized hundreds of servers and arrested several of its executives on criminal charges.

Do you think the move was justified?
