Microsoft denies Vista will be late

Still on track for January
Thursday, 25 May 2006, 16:14
SOFTWARE GIANT Microsoft has denied that its super-soaraway Vista operating system will be late.

Microsoft number two, the shy and understated Steve Ballmer said that he hadn't back tracked when he said that Vista was on track to be released "in the first part of next year". Vole has always said that Vista would be in the shops in January.

Many cynics in the software industry, thought that Steve was hinting that Vista would be delayed by a few weeks.

Uncle Vista. Pic courtesy Paramount "It is all on track BUT but we're going to see what kind of feedback we get from users ... and we're going to work to make sure it's absolutely a high-quality product. That's number one," the Volish number two told a news conference at the Seoul Digital Forum.

So if the punters in the test group do not like Vista there is a chance that it will all be pushed back.

Gartner Group already thinks it will be delayed by three months. The editorial team of the INQ had a quick show of hands on this vital issue. Ten percent thought it would be on time, five percent said it would be late, five percent wanted to go to the toilet and the rest wanted to know when the pub was open. µ
