Nforce 4 SLI has disappeared again

Available again in January
Monday, 27 December 2004, 07:59
WHILE SOME of you are still "resting" from Yule parties, some others are still expecting their SLI boards. Our Japanese birdie told us that you can get some MSI boards and that Asus SLI boards are mostly gone. That's just Japan.

Rest of the world still cannot get enough Asus SLI boards, but we heard more than once that those boards will be available again in January.

Just a day after we asked the world, "where are Asus SLI boards?" and reported that you can buy them at many places including Germany, USA and New Zealand, all Nforce 4 SLI motherboards were sold out. This is a good thing for Nvidia but it still means that Nvidia hasn't shipped enough chipsets.

Our friends directed us to Asus beta BIOS site and we saw that Asus released some updates on Christmas Eve. Asus wants to make things right and in Taiwan, Yule is not that important.

SLI is a marchitecture for Q1 2005 and we are just a few days from it. We still don't have an answer when will you be able to buy more 6800GT PCIe as our US readers keep telling us that you can not buy a single card at shops such as Newegg. You can buy a few at scan.co.uk.

I suspect the first few weeks of 2005, we won't see much better availability. µ

Nvidia Fermi

Will graphics cards built with Nvidia's Fermi GPUs be a hit?
