Big four chip firms claim 45 nano breakthrough

Will AMD go for beers to Fishkill time?
Tuesday, 29 August 2006, 14:23
THE ALLIANCE of IBM, Samsung, Infineon and Chartered said they've made 45 nanometer circuits which they're already supplying to customers.

As well as the circuits, the four have also said design kits are available for companies wanting to get into the process early.

The working circuits, said the firms in a joint statement, were "proven in silicon" and put together at the IBM 12-inch fab plant in East Fishkill, NY, where the joint development team hatches its plans.

They probably go out for beers with the AMD guys that are there too.

Verified circuits include standard library cells and IO elements and embedded memory.
