AMD Live to add Blu-Ray, HD DVD

Storage support due Q3
Thu Dec 28 2006, 10:35
AMD Live will correct a significant omission by supporting Blu-ray and HD DVD in the third quarter of 2007, according to Digitimes .

The Taiwan tech journal cited unnamed sources but the move is a no-brainer for AMD's fledgling attempts to make its multimedia PC technology fly. While the average INQ reader has no problems with this stuff, having out-of-the-box support will be a big boost for confused parents and others attempting to make the latest storage devices work optimally.

As with its lookalike rhyming rival Intel's Viiv, AMD Live has not thus far thrilled buyers but with support from HP, Fujitsu Siemens and Acer PCs lined up, a lot of us are going to end up having these capabilities whether we want them or not. µ
