CHIP FIRM collaborators IBM and AMD said products using 45 nanometre technology will be available in the middle of 2008.

That tech will use ultra low-K interconnect dielectrics and immersion lithography, the firms said in a release.

AMD has only just started creating 65 nanometre based CPUs at its Dresden fab, long after its competitor Intel rolled out the process at its factories.

Intel is already making 45 nanometre chips in its test fab. ยต
