Dual Xeon server boards get Intel outing

CONFIRMING RUMORS (sic) you may have already seen here, Intel today unveiled a bunch of server kit, including a dozen new Xeon server boards and various bits and bobs to go with them, including server chassis, RAID controllers, and server management software.

The chip maker is offering system builders three dual processor Xeon boards (SE7500WV2, SE7500CW2, and server board SHG2), plus an integrated 4-way Xeon MP server platform, the SRSH4.

Intel says it is offering "building blocks" out of which OEM customers can build tailored solutions for their customers.Along with the hardware, the chip maker offers updated versions of its Server Management software, with which to build and run systems and a supprt CD for tech support and parts information.

Spokeman Philip Brace, director of Intel's Enterprise Platform & Services Division, says in a statement that Intel's strategy is "to provide all sizes of integrators and OEMs with a breadth of server building block products that allow them to focus on their added value in terms of unique designs, complete servers solutions and differentiated services."
