Thu Sep 07 2006, 14:40
MAKER OF PRINTER ink HP has upgraded its Integrity server range by installing the latest dual-core Montecito Intel Itanium 2 processor.

According to the outfit's press release, the Montecito will give the Integrity more than twice the performance of the earlier range.

The latest Integrity range will have the HP zx2 chipset under the bonnet which HP claims can managed twice the energy efficiency of the previous chipset.

All this means a reduction in power bills and cooling costs by about a half. Pricing is roughly the same.

HP is one of the few outfits that managed to make a fair bit of money out of Chipzilla's Itanium, mostly because it is posted at the high end of the server market. µ
