FOR THE first time, Asus is bringing its own displays to the tricky UK market, at least in large numbers. The company will sell those displays in the channel via several distributors including MiniLanTech and Aone distribution. The company hopes that Asus brand can help to boost its UK LCD sales.

Asus will offer four models - all 17-inchers, where three have a claimed 8ms response time while PM17TU has a marvellous 3ms response time. The top one, the PM17TU, comes with 2.5 W stereo speakers in dark silver and it's available now for £199+VAT, the PM17TE is a 17-inch, 8ms display with same speakers and comes in Dark silver at £182+VAT. It's expected at the end of November.

The MM17T is also a 17-inch, 8ms display with 1.2W stereo speakers and comes in silver, available now for £164+VAT. The last is the MM17D, a 17-inch display with 8ms response time, without speakers, and comes in a silver finish for £153+VAT.

Asus claims to offer a one year ZBD (Zero Bright Dot) policy and it will replace your display if you see just one dead pixel. We know that other LCD companies are offering just a few months ZBD policy and will replace your display only if you have several dead pixels. It's a nightmare as even one dead pixel is very frustrating and will easily catch your attention.

Asus also offers a three year collect and return warranty and this also sounds quite good. µ
