Apple briefs swoop on Open Source outfit

Squeezing the Juice

BRIEFS from Apple's trademark enforcement department have written angry letters to an open source group over the ipodder.

Ipodder Lemon was free software distributed under a GPL licence to manage podcasts. M'Learned friends from Apple have sent a cease and desist notice to the the ipodder code writers saying that they were "decieving users" that the software was connected to Apple's iPod device.

A spokesperson for the coders Scott Grayban said here that although they had expected such action from Apple they didn't really expect them to be so anal about it.

The coders have changed the product's name to "Juice" or "Juice Receiver" possibly to avoid having themselves squeezed by Apple's legal eagles until the pips popped.

The new website is now here.
