ATI fills Mac hole
The so-called "March 2002" update - yes, we know it's April already - supports the Radeon 2-based Radeon 8500 Mac Edition board, released just a week ago, along with earlier first-generation Radeon cards and older Rage 128-based products. It supports retail boards, not those bundled by Apple.
The update operates on both Mac OS X 10.1 and Mac OS 9.2.2 systems, but only the classic Mac OS release supports Rage 128 chips - only Radeon-class cards are supported under OS X.
ATI doesn't seem keen on saying what the update actually improves and what bugs it fixes, but appears to focus on Radeon-class cards' support for multiple displays and enhancing their DVD playback with something called "adaptive de-interlacing". Apparently, it improves picture quality of interlaced DVD footage, such as video-sourced TV show content.
Does it, we wonder, fix the DVD issue mentioned by our Fudo here?

Well thats completely useless. what else is next? Should we go back to 28.8k on a fiber optic line? There are several reasons why internet video will not and does not work. How many people have gone to a website watched a clip for less than five minutes then get slammed by an ad that cant be skipped and the volume is locked. Then you see another interesting clip
( notice the word clip), and bam the same netflix add in great quality, and this happens over and over...... Once the killer cycle begins there is no hope, at least the inq only diverts you to an add at about one out of hundred times. There is however one good example of how things should be done. If you take a look at pbs and npr, you will notice that about 99 percent of they're content is available online. From videos/audios of full length shows. and most in real, quicktime, flash and even wma. We all know that Youtube is a modified social network site, or deny the fact that they have a license to infringe copyrights. I am not saying its not usefull, what i am saying is that it should be broader, what if i wanted to watch pbs or stream from vlc? How long do you think it will take for youtube to cut an deal and provide ads?
