Normally we rely on US financial journalists to provide us with these sort of facts.
What we would really like to know is what Otellini's role is on the Google board of directors. Is he, for example, trying to drive up costs or lower costs?
There is a movement amongst publishers, we learned last week, to prevent Google from imposing hegemony by aggregating copy from independent web sites, and paying them a shilling or two to shut them up.
We remember that Eckhard Pfeiffer from Compaq was a member of General Motors' board for a while. And, of course, Lord Browne of BP remains on Intel's boards, presumably using the Itanium to discover fresh oil reserves as part of shareholders' value.
Are all US financial journalists daft or as stupid as a brush, or only 99.9999999999% of them? We think we should be told.
Surely Paul Otellini has his time taken up fixing the Intel Corporation. If I was a shareholder in Intel, I'd want to know how much time he spends on this supernumary job. ยต
