V-disk-2 VTEC SAID it has introduced a USB 2 external hard drive which has a retractable cable if you're the dozy absent minded sort who always leaves things you need behind.

The drive, the V-DISK 2, comes in 20GB, 40GB and 60GB capacities, and has some little LEDs to dazzle you as its transferring the data.

And talking about the data transfer, the firm claims it can shuttle bits across at up to 480Mbit/s.

The drive, the firm claims, needs no extra power supply and weighs slightly less than 200 grammes. It will be plug into PCs and Macs that support USB, and the 20GB unit costs £135 plus VAT or so. µ
