Logitech launches new mice, keyboard

LOGITECH HAS LAUNCHED two new products that target gamers across the world, and once again, those two new products are a keyboard and a mouse. G9 is successor of G5, while G15 went through a major redesign.

G9 has a couple of added features, continuing to evolve the gaming line-up. These features should help gamers to enhance their competitiveness, or just add to the bling factor of current gaming peripherials.

The precision engine comes with upgraded resolution, all the way to 3200 dpi, and you can adjust the quality of imaging in 200-3200 dpi range. USB connection is souped up to 2.0 to transfer as much data as possible, raising up frequency from 100, 180 and 500 Hz of yesteryear - to 1000Hz, reminding us of age of Razer Boomslang in late 90s.

Once again, top of the line for gamers is intented for right-handers only...

Further improvements over G5 features are memorised profiles, further modification of weight balance, change of LED colours and of course, MicroGear Precision. This is the very same click-mechanism scroll wheel introduced on MX Revolution in September of last year.

Redesigned keyboard gets up in price and down in size

When it comes to new G15 keyboard, we are surprised not to see a new name for this model, since the modifications were enough to warrant a new name. Instead, after the launch of original G15, Logitech execs asked us hacks about the keyboard and what should be improved in upcoming model. This reminded us of Acer's redesign of Acer Ferrari line of products from plasticky-squeaky Fiat to a carbon-clad Ferrari flagships that series 1000, 4000 and 5000 were.

All in all, keyboard was reduced in size, with a welcomed reduction in number of function keys. Now, there is a choice of six buttons on the left side of keyboard with standard M1-M2-M3 combination, allowing for 18 commands to be used at any time. This is highly useful when it comes to games such as World of Warcraft or upcoming Age of Conan, e.g. MMORPG titles.

Only problem that Logitech faces, is a fact that their products have been steadily raising up in price. With all kudos to G15 keyboard, 80 euro was a bit steep for a keyboard, and with this new model coming at a price of 99.99 Euro, Logitech must have created one premium-priced keyboard.

For those with price in mind, you will just have to wait for the company to release a version without LCD display. µ
