Intel Developer Forum Warning - graphics heavy
Thu Sep 12 2002, 03:17
WE DIDN'T HAVE as much time as we'd have liked to take snaps but thought we'd present the following from our collection, so far.

alt='idffront'

The front of the exhibition centre with fountains and all - it's hot in Old San Jose - maybe the high 80s today.

alt='unisys2'

Look at this gigantic Itanium 2 box from Unisys, which appears to use its own chipsets and therefore the boxes are shipping, big time. It dawrves the person beside it (not pictured).

alt='enthusiast'

Intel's reference box for enthusiasts. It uses a new chipset, launched next month, which uses DDR and has an unusual heat sink, as well as a Serial ATA connection. If only there were drives.

alt='chap'

A shot of the exhibition floor at IDF. The big chap on the left, after he was flashed, turned round and waved at us in a friendly manner.

alt='intelsown'

An Intel motherboard which will also launch in October and using DDR 333 and Serial ATA tech from Silicon Image.

alt='dalekoids'

These so called Dalekoids are actually reference boxes for developers using Java to test and verify mobile phones, PDAs, and other critters of that ilk.

alt='creature'

Some artists have made unusual PCs of different shapes and sizes, or form factors, as the argot has it.

alt='pumpkin'

This pumpkin turned into a PC carriage before our eyes - from the same collection.

alt='sanjose'

A view of the valley from the Fairmont. Note the blue skies…

Authorities in several countries raided Megaupload recently, shut down all of its services, seized hundreds of servers and arrested several of its executives on criminal charges.

Do you think the move was justified?
