MPC blames technical problems as reason for dumping AMD

ONE OF OUR READERS noticed that MPC - formally a part of Mighty Micron (MU) - only appears now to offer Intel based PCs, so he thought he'd drop the firm a line to ask why no AMD machines were available.

The answers he got were revealing. MPC said it has stopped selling AMD models for several reasons.

The first of these is that it claimed AMD was not "aggressively pursuing changes in technology that Intel was".

The letter from MPC also said that "we encountered more long term technical issues" compared to its Intel-based machines.

And thirdly, MPC claims that AMD did not give it the kind of marketing information it needed to compare their processors to recently released Intel CPUs.

So, MPC said, it had made the decision to "focus on and feature Intel products".

Sheesh! Wonder what AMD thinks of this... µ
