Public service YouTube proposed

Will give BBC a headache
Thu Jan 25 2007, 09:52
A PUBLICLY funded version of YouTube should be set up to give the BBC a run for its money.

Ofcom produced a consultation document which said sites like Second Life and YouTube represent an important part of the digital media landscape.

It said that because of these developments it believes that linear TV will diminish in performance. There should therefore be a Public Service Publisher set up, funded by taxpayers' money to the tune of £100 million a year. µ
