I say this is a minor problem because you would pretty much have to me a moron to buy an Alviso machine with DDR anyway. The 15 or so minutes of battery life when you use DDR2 is well worth the price premium, especially considering it is probably not going to be in cheap laptops to begin with.
Intel would not comment on a future stepping that fixes this bug, but it would not surprise me if it came out with a new stepping in a few months. In the grand scheme of things, on the scale of 'Oh crap' to 'whoopty-frickin-ding-dong', it would rate a whoopty-frickin-ding-dong.
Overall, I still think this chipset will change things, and am looking forward to it. Don't sweat this bug much, just don't buy an Alviso notebook with DDR until you know it is fixed, and even then, don't buy one with DDR or I will mock you if I ever see you using it. ยต
