Kori Robin Brown, who worked for the Xbox games division, faces five years in a federal prison and a fine of $250,000.
The case emerged after a high profile case last year in which Daniel Feussner was accused of abstracting a vast sum of money by buying and re-selling Microsoft software.
Feussner committed suicide before the case got to court.
Microsoft had a scheme in place in which individuals were allowed to buy unlimited software, supposedly for their own use.
In Feussner's case, it was alleged that he'd ordered $9 million worth of software and used the money to buy fast cars, fancy boats and otherwise financed a lavish style of living.
Quite how the internal Microsoft system could let employees buy these quantities of software without warning lights flashing has not yet been satisfactorily explained. ยต
