The list of new hardware means that Xbox fanboys have just a little more joy in their lives. The thumb-board for chat sessions was priced and dated ($30, September); the Elite version of the console was unveiled for Europe (August 24); pink and blue 360 controllers were shown off and pimped as allowing gamers to "express their identity" (limited to boy and girl options?) and which were pushed for October at $50.
There's also an Xbox 360 decked out in a Halo-style combat green decor, no pricing, due in September. It looks pretty pimp.
The conference appears to have been pretty dull otherwise, with only the shoe-in announcement of Gears of War on the PC to spice things up a bit. That game is DX10-compliant (read: Vista) and out in time for Christmas, with five new campaign missions to attract repeat players. There's also Windows Live co-op play, which is pretty novel.
Today it's the turn of Sony to address the press. Keep your eyes on the wibbling. µ
