Ubuntu's enterprise version arrives this week

Dapper Drake ducks in by Thursday

LINUX OUTFIT Ubuntu is planning to release the enterprise version of its distribution by Thursday.

Dapper Drake will be supported for five years and is designed to be for enterprise use. This is in comparison to the 18 months support that you will get for Unbuntu's desktop Breezy Badger.

Normally Ubuntu chucks out a new version of its operating system every six months, and so having such a long support period is a bit of a first.

The big idea is that it will get Ubuntu, which is seen more as a personal desktop version of Linux, into the more lucrative enterprise market, which is dominated by Red Hat, Debian and SUSE.
