Dutch Torrent site take-down turns cat and mouse

Demonoid demonised

DUTCH PIRATE-HUNTING outfit, BREIN has filed a subpoena against torrent site Demonoid's ISP, demanding that the site be taken offline.

Coincidentally, the site has disappeared from the Interweb. At least, it seems initially to have been a coincidence. But whatever site maintenance is being done has now been extended. This may mean the outfit is also switching ISP.

A post on the site reads: "Due some recent events, and following the advice of a lot of you, we will make a few more changes that might take a few days longer.

"For the ones wondering, the timing of the downtime was coincidental," it says.

BREIN pirate-hunter in chief Tim Kuik, however, reckons the torrent site is simply playing "hide and seek," according to this Dutch report.

"We want Leaseweb (the ISP) to take and keep this and other illegal sites offline." You'll notice he says "illegal" there. Clever that.

His outfit is still crowing over its downing of everlasting.nu, which also used Leaseweb as its ISP. Now it is making a starboard turn, ready to broadside Demonoid. µ
