THE HOUSE OF LORDS has rejected an appeal by banks and credit card companies that they should not be liable for refunds on overseas card purchases.
The ruling confirms that people who buy goods and services from outside the UK, including online stores, are entitled to a refund of the purchase price on faulty or undelivered items costing between £100 and £30,000 under the Consumer Credit Act.
The Law Lords rejected an appeal brought by Tesco and Lloyds TSB who were challenging an earlier Appeal Court ruling. µ
