SIS intros chipsets for AMD chips

Future chip show off. Nice, eh?
Tuesday, 26 September 2006, 11:21
TAIWANESE FIRM Silicon Integrated Systems (SIS) said it will show off chipsets for AMD desktop and notebook chips.

The venue will be the AMD Mobile Forum which happens in Nice today, and the chipsets will be the SIS 771 and the SIS M771.

SIS reckons that AMD will disclose its next gen CPUs and architectures to all of its partners at the forum.

So why no invite, AMD? The SIS 771 chipset is designed for low power consumption desktop AMD machines using AM2 sockets. It comes with the Mirage 3 graphics engine and PCI Express.

The M771 is for the AMD S1 socket and supports Direct X 9, features low power consumption and can be coupled with SIS' 307 video chip. µ
