More G92 scores tip up

Now with 3DMark 06 and added B-vitamins!

THERE WERE SOME problems with the G92 numbers we put out a bit ago, namely they were 3DMark05. The problem, this bench is seriously CPU bound at default resolutions.

So, to fix that, here are 3DMark06 numbers a a bunch of different resolutions, and a bit more about what it means.

It's pretty obvious, no?

The scores are a little higher than Theo said, basically putting G92 and RV670 right on top of each other, at least at 1280*1024. Since NV launches first, I would expect ATI to bump up the clock in the intervening weeks to pip the G92 by a bit. In this game, victory is much easier for the second to launch.

The interesting bit is not with the near future launching cards, but with the Q1 launching big boys. If the base parts are more or less equal, and they numbers play out the way I expect them to, look for ATI to take the first lead in the high end since the R4xx cards were all the rage.

NV is taking the same old route, ATI is turning hard left, who will win? Right now it is a tie, and based on OEM orders, an ATI clean sweep. The real fight is in Q1/08, right now we are only seeing the initial salvos. µ

G 92 Paper Launch?

i hear this is a paper launch, Nv cant even supply to the OEMs, so how can they satisfy channel demand with this early launch?

re: AA

ATI better greatly improve AA performance from the r600 cards. I dont see the point in spending near $300 on a video card if u cant max out AA.

I wonder

I wonder how cool these chips will run and how far they will be able to overclock. I know the R600 already had a lot of headroom before, will be interesting to see overclocked benchmarks.

It will be a Mainstream-High end sollution

GTX and Ultra still will be faster in most cases

3dmark06 is irrelevant..

...it is real-life performance that matters. And 3dmark scores are not all that indicative of the latter.

AA

Then you turn on AA and watch the ATI card shoot itself in the face.
