A CALIFORNIAN firm called Mediostream started a case last week against Apple, Acer, Dell and Gateway in the Texas Marshall district court.

The firm alleges the companies have breached patent 7,009,655B2 - catchily titled "method and system for direct recording of video information onto a disk medium".

Apple, Mediostream alleged, uses this patent in Minii Macs, Mac Books, Mac Book Pros, Imacs and other products.

Dell and the other defendants are alleged to use the patent in a number of notebooks, desktop PCs and other products.

Mediostream wants a jury to give it damages if the defendants are found guilty. µ
