And that is likely to mean nearly 90 specialist jobs will be lost at an HP call centre in Loveland, Colorado, with a proposed date of 18th of August for the initial move.
As we reported back in June, HP's IA-32 teams in Colorado, in Texas and Georgia are heading for climes north of the border, up snow goose way.
But that's just the thin end of a wedge that will eventually see the outsourcing ending up in the Indian subcontinent - or at least those are HP's plans.
What's perhaps more significant about this is that some of the folk who will be moved work in the ISS or net server division of HP. It doesn't take a genius to figure that there's some pretty large corporations and organisations using some pretty big tin that are customers of the ISS group.
The group was told several weeks ago that calls would first move to Canada and then to India, but the first move is a short term precursor to the "final solution".
Canadian support staff are likely to get paid around nine (US) dollars an hour but the Indian staff will only get around $4 an hour, our sources tell us. The technical staff in Loveland are paid substantially more than this, and are being used, initially, to train up their short term replacements in Canada. ยต
