The Green Team has stumped up a massive $100,000 in prize money for the tournament, split across two major events. The first of these is an Enemy Territory: Quake Wars event, which will see six-man teams play each other in a double-elimination style to crown the winning clan.
Meanwhile, those who like to go solo can enter the Quad-Damage tournament, which will be a 1v1 tournament across all four Quake games - yes, going all the way back to the grenade launcher fun of Quake 1. This should mean that winners are that little bit older than your average tournament winner - the original Quake hit the scene back in the middle of 1996, when dial-up was still prevalent, and many gamers have not played it multi-player to this day.
As someone who spent a lot of time on a 10meg network back on 1996, Quake holds a very special place in my heart. Here's hoping Nvidia can manage to get the game to run on Vista. µ
