QIMONDA - spun off from Infineon - and its joint venture partner Nanya said it has qualified production of 75 nanometre DRAM technology.

The firm will offer a 512Mb DDR-2 memory chip as its first offering in the range, with the products already going into production at the Qimonda fab in Dreden, Germany.

Qimonda said the 75 nano tech will be used in future products such as DDR-3 and graphics products.

The firms said that the move will increase potential chip output on each silicon wafer it processes by around 40 per cent. µ
