Computex is a Hot Mess

Computex 2005 Construction Underway
Sunday, 29 May 2005, 12:31
PRE-COMPUTEX IS AN INTERESTING time in Taiwan, the entire city is littered with Computex banners. This time it is Intel and Gigabyte taking the lions share of the space between the lanes on most streets. The weather is hot and humid enough to cause parts of your body to stick uncomfortably to other parts of your body, and it rains a lot. Even during the 'nice' parts of the day, it is hard to see the 101 Tower through the mist, haze, trees, and people waving Intel water bottles.

The more interesting bit is the show floor itself. As of Saturday night, it was a veritable war zone of people waving tools around, running, yelling, and generally doing things that no one could exactly describe.

The aisles were littered with construction materials, half eaten food, booze bottles and Chinese workers scurrying about. It was a sight to behold. If they can turn the disaster area seen below into a clean and shiny show floor in a day and a half, they are minor miracle workers. Then again, they do every year, don't they.ยต
