Lawyers and painters can soon change black to white - Danish proverb
KINGSTON WAS SHOWING off some new memory sticks at CES, along with some new DDR kits. There are now four lines of flash drives and a three sets of HyperX memory.
The first new flash drive is the DataTraveler (DT) HyperX, an 'enthusiast' class flash drive. It has 30MBps read and 20MBps write speeds, and comes in 2, 4 and 8G capacities. Moving more mainstream is the DT 400, a swivel design with Migo software built in. It is also in 2/4/8G capacities.
Turning to form over function, we have the DT Style, a drive that has replaceable front panels, you can even print your own from their web site if you want to 'customize' your memory. The last one is the DT 110, a slide out generic low end part. The colors denote size, and like the Style, it comes in 1-8G capacities.
Heading over to DDR, the big news is that Kingston is doing a quad kit, four matched HyperX sticks for the modern overclocker. The first part is a DDR2 1066 set, and more will assuredly follow. They look just like the other HyperX modules, but if you stare at the package real hard, you will see there are 4 dimms there, not 2. µ
Kingston is about 3 years too late trying to get the money of enthusiast. Only just LAST YEAR they started to put heatspreders on their ram and give it this HyperX crap branding. Their products are still over priced compared to the likes of G-Skill and A-data and even some traditional enthusiast brands like Corsair and OCZ. Kingston better go back to DELL and HP they not getting my money!!
